You = Spoiled

Sun Oct 18, 2009, 11:41 AM
NOTE: My scraps has some detailed character descriptions for Meirann and Sejorach, in case you don't follow scraps.

Somehow I managed to provide TWO installments within 24 hours.

That's probably the extent of what I'll be able to manage any time soon. I really had nothing else I could do this weekend EXCEPT write, and my other projects were stalled to the point that I figured it wouldn't hurt to revisit Meirann and Sejorach.

I think I've worked out a better feel for where I want this story to end up. A rough set of notions for the eventual ending.

But just so you know, because I've seen these suggestions crop up a couple times and I figured I should address them.

Sejorach and Meirann MIGHT have children together, but I'm not going to go about describing their having-babies years if that happens. For one? Yick. For two? Babies Ruin Everything. For three, they're definitely wanting to enjoy as much couples'-private-time as they can manage. There's plenty of time for babies later, long past the ending of the parts of their lives that I'm actually intending to tell.

Sejorach will NOT become a human. Meirann will NOT become a dragon. While the world does allow for a certain degree of shape-shifting, dragons do not gain the ability until they're several thousand years old--Sejorach is somewhat younger than that. Meirann's chances of meeting a dragon-human shapeshifter are pretty much nill, at least for the immediate future. If you want human x human, the internet is FULL of that sort of thing. If you want Dragon x Dragon, you're probably plain out of luck, the best such I've been able to locate was in Dragon's World (LINK), and it was, frankly, rather uninspiring.

And now, back to my regularly-scheduled lunch.

  • Mood: Zest
  • Listening to: The laundry machine!
  • Reading: My own naughthy writings...
  • Watching: Kitties!
  • Playing: Tiddlywinks
  • Eating: Sushi
  • Drinking: Mango bubble tea

Nubecula is a small, troubled cloud.

She is amused, horrified, flattered, and above all confused by the amount of attention her story has received, especially considering that she has done absolutely nothing to tell people about it. How do people find it? She has no clue.

And when she is not hiding from Deviantart, hoping that people have forgotten about her (they apparently haven't, yet...) she is doing things in the Real World, like working a 40-hour week at a boring deskjob where they keylog (no writing naughty stuff there!) or being a grown-up and buying groceries, doing laundry, and paying bills.

Also she does not have the tenacity it takes to write a proper manuscript, get a literary agent, and get herself published. So, you lucky DA'er's will probably always get to read whatever she writes for FREE. Hooray!

I've just read your stories. Be still my heart! I can't remember the last time.. or if ever!.. that I've read something like this. Thank you, thank you. Please remove the "wannabe" from the "Wannabe novelist" portion of your profile. No 'wannabe' about you *smiles* Can't wait to have my heart and mind tugged on again! *sitting patiently re-reading, sighing with delight, and re-reading!*

Hello :)

I"ll always be crazy! Even if somebody sets the guy next to me on fire. :onfire:  :onfire:

Oh wait I did that...
:icongiterdone:
It shouldn't come as a surprise to you that people love your work. It's very well done and your word choice is amazing. Your story lines are not only interactive, but they also leave the reader wanting more. This is the mark of a good writer. Anyone can write, when you can write and make your audience beg for more then you've achieved greatness.

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I'm a sucker for my own writing; half the reason I'm so unproductive is because much of the time when I go to work on a writing project, I'll find some excuse to scroll up and re-read a part written earlier. Next thing I know, I'm re-reading the whole thing.

But I am still surprised that other people like what I write. I generally do not write for any audience other than myself; I write the sorts of things I would like to read, I write to suit my own particular interests and tastes. That there are so many people whose tastes are as weird as my own... well, I have very mixed reactions to it.

I do not have the drive, I do not have the motivation it requires to be a truly great writer. I cannot force myself for love or money to write every day. So while I may write things that people enjoy from time to time, not matter how entertaining, no matter how engaging, I just do not measure up to the people who do somehow manage to write, day in, day out, when they're inspired, when they're blocked, shoving through. I have a great deal of respect for the professional writer; I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to be successful in the industry, and while I might have a certain amount of talent, I lack pretty much everything else that a writer needs.
:icongiterdone:
Not necessarily, you may not have that drive, but even if you don't write all the time you can still write short stories and sell them if you want to. However, even if you can't write all the time, we all still enjoy your works.

I can't seem to write short stories that stay short stories. Dragon's Girl was kind of meant to be a "short story." I think it's pushing the edges of novella.

I'd like to sell something, but I kind of promised my Mom that I'd make sure she got a signed copy of everything I get published.
:icongiterdone:
Well, that should be very interesting now shouldn't it. Well, even if you never get anything published, I'll always be a fan of your works. I think you're an incredible writer and seem to have a "creative" mind. Which, I might add, isn't a bad thing at all.

love your stories, hope you make some more!
:iconbethwhowishes:
Hi!
Just wanted to tell you how much I love your story. I check your page all the time to see if there is any more, and I don't mind waiting. I've read the whole thing about 5 times now, just from not being able to wait for new stuff!
I hope you write again soon,
Beth
